Add garlic and shallots and cook stirring frequently until tender about 4 5 minutes. Add in vodka and cook for 15 minutes. Working carefully stir in vodka scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
Pour in vodka and let cook for 10 minutes. In a dutch oven over medium heat add olive oil and onion. In the meantime prepare the vodka sauce.
