Recipe Vegan Yam Rice
Sauté the onion and garlic until aromatic.
Recipe vegan yam rice. Add water into the wok and follow by the yam pieces. Dish out on to a plate garnish with chopped spring onion fried onions and serve with vegan dishes. Be careful not to over stir as soft cooked yam can break up easily.
200g rice washed and drained 400ml water 150g yam or 2 baby yams peeled and diced 1 slice ginger 3 pandan leaves screwpine tied into a knot 2 star anises cinnamon stick 3cm length teaspoon salt or to taste teaspoon chinese five spice powder. Transfer everything into the rice cooker and cook it like you are cooking steamed rice. Remove the rice into a metal bowl and continue to steam the rice for at least 30 to 45 minutes until fully cooked.
Wash rice grains and drain. Don t worry if mixture is mushy. When the rice is cooked add in the sesame oil.
Sometimes if i m lucky to see fried yam at a yong tau fu stall i ll be sure to order it. Stir fry yam cubes on high heat for roughly 5 minutes till just about cooked. Scoop out and set aside leaving the oil in the wok.
Mix lightly and allow to cool. Heat up oil in a wok over medium heat until very hot. Add all seasonings and bring it to boil.
Ice cream chips cake candied yams wu tao gou taro cake nian gao with yam you name it. I love any food with yam. When ready to serve gently fluff yam mixture with cooked rice.
