Recipe Butternut Squash Bacon
Remove using a slotted spoon leaving the fat in the pan.
Recipe butternut squash bacon. While the bacon is baking peel and cube a medium butternut squash. Combine 1 4 teaspoon salt rosemary and pepper. Add the squash and 1 teaspoon salt and toss to coat well in the onion mixture.
Add butternut squash red onion garlic salt pepper smoked paprika parsely and bacon to a bowl and using a spoon mix ingredients till well mingled add in the almond meal and mix well then using your hands roll into bites sized balls bites. Step 3 meanwhile cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Season with salt and pepper then scatter bacon on top.
Toss the cubes with 2 3 tablespoons of the rendered bacon fat salt and pepper. Next combine the squash with the bacon and the reserved bacon grease. Season with salt and pepper then scatter bacon.
Transfer the mixture to a blender in batches and puree until smooth. Use a second baking sheet if necessary. Preheat oven to 450 f.
Add the oil to the pan along with the squash rosemary chilli and garlic. Gently turn the pieces to coat all of them with the syrup. Reduce the heat to medium cover and cook stirring occasionally until the squash is very tender about 20 minutes.
Season well and gently crush some of the butternut squash with the back of a spoon. Season with salt and pepper and transfer your completed maple glazed butternut squash with bacon to a serving plate or bowl. Spread the cubed squash out on the baking sheet used previously leaving ample room between each piece to allow the squash to caramelize.
